Listen to this article
Firstly, congratulations. You did the work and you’re about to transition into new dimensions. Well done! Transitions can be overwhelming but with the right planning, mindset and value system, it can be made to be just a bit easier to navigate.
As you would’ve learnt throughout the course of your studies, there is no shortcut and the path you take has to be unique to you, in order for it to make the most sense, especially in the long run, so without further ado, let’s jump right in.

Transitions can be overwhelming but with the right planning, mindset and value system, it can be made to be just a bit easier to navigate.
Create Your Roadmap for Success
As corny as it sounds, this one thing may be the distinction between getting to where you want to be and just randomly ending up somewhere. Get as specific as possible by identifying the industry, role or position you see yourself in; the income you’d like to generate; the time period you’d like to get there by; and any other info you deem as relevant.
The key to this one is to remain flexible because in reality this roadmap in conceptual and when that meets reality and obstacles, it may not look exactly as you designed but the real juice comes in having something to keep you on course as you transition.
Adopt The Mindset of Who You Want to Become
In all of my writings I mention the word imagine, at least once, and it’s so funny, but there’s a reason for that: a sprinkle of imagination goes a long way. Now, back on track.
Imagine who you see yourself becoming in the next year or few. How do you speak, think and act? What is your network like? How do you dress, etc. Now, spend some time connecting to what it all feels like? Take particular mental or actual notes and adopt the mindset of that future you, today.
The beauty about having an understanding of who you want to be and knowing what it would feel like to get there, opens your awareness up to the requirements, possibilities and opportunities that will get you there. The thing about awareness is that once that door has been opened, it can’t be shut. You’re welcome.

Don’t Substitute Quality
Set your own values and live by them. This one doesn’t just put you and help to keep you on track but it also makes you into a better person. Very early on, establish your own ethical conduct. Set these standards because it will be what the people you meet, along the way, will remember you by.
Identify what you stand for; what you’re willing to accept and vice versa; and stay true to your principles. Respect is a powerful thing and that in itself will earn you meaningful mentions and create lasting impressions on way to your success.
I shall end as I began: congratulations on getting this far. Progress is momentous and nothing should overshadow that. I trust that you have what it takes to continue this trajectory and I hope you trust that you do too. All the best.
